STONE HARBOR – St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stone Harbor conducted a “Warm the Children” raffle for a beautiful handmade quilt during their Thursdays on the Lawn concert this year. The winners of the raffle held on Aug. 11 were Carolyn and Church DeLone of Downington, PA.
The quilt was donated by The Wetlands Institute Quilters in appreciation for use of the St. Mary’s Church Hall every year for the Quilt Show during the Wings and Water Festival. Over $500 was raised and will be used to purchase blankets to be distributed to needy Cape May County families this winter.
St. Mary’s Rector, Fr. John Sosnowski, remarked: “Thanks to all who supported this raffle during our Thursdays on the Lawn concert. We are so pleased to turn this wonderful gift from the Wetlands Institute into gifts of warmth and caring for the poor of our community.”
The children of St. Mary’s Church School will be producing labels for the blankets imprinted with the words, “You are wrapped in the warmth of God’s love”, and will participate in the distribution via local agencies and food pantries.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
