The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program enjoyed another great year of partnership with the Cape May County Special Services District. This spring alone, Ocean Academy and the high school offered 13 4-H clubs with 122 4-H members! The fun clubs ranged in topic from silly songs, to Legos, to tap dancing, with photography, yoga and smartboard games in between. We are thrilled that the high school is now participating in the clubs, with teachers from there offering their own unique new clubs for students to enjoy.
Teacher Amanda Moss also brought 4-H into her classroom by using 4-H chicken embryology curriculum to teach her students all about egg hatching. The students chose their own eggs and learned how eggs transform into chicks in an incubator as they patiently waited for the eggs to hatch.
In May, 4-H Volunteer Judges Sally Barry, Sheila Jargowski, Crystal Neill and Joan Lehburger visited the clubs and awarded their 4-H Public Presentation ribbons. That visit is always the highlight of the year for volunteers and staff. In June, special 4-H achievement certificates were presented to graduating 8th graders.
Special thanks to Debbie Conlow, Robin Gatto and all of the teachers and administrators who continue to make 4-H available to these wonderful young people!
