Special Olympics Competition Set for March 20 in Ocean City

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – Sixty athletes from Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties will participate in a Special Olympics swim meet 10 a.m., March 20, at the Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center.
The event for area athletes with intellectual disabilities includes an opening parade of champions, competitive events and podium awards ceremonies as in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
The athletes remain true to the Special Olympics motto: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
Ocean City Swimmer Sabrina Pullella will sing the national anthem to open the competition.
In its two decades, the meet has brought together a host of local athletes, along with community volunteers, city representatives and members of the Ocean City Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association Local No. 27 helping to run the event.
