Six-Year-Old Delivers Gifts to Pediatric Patients

Gavin Ridgeway

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The Holiday Season brings out the generosity in people-that is for certain. For one Cape May County youngster, he has been planning, saving and shopping to provide a “Santa-sized” holiday surprise for pediatric patients hospitalized during the holiday season.  Dec. 6, six-year-old Gavin Ridgway delivered crayons, coloring books and stuffed animals to Cape Regional Medical Center in a big, red, Santa sack!
“Gavin is an amazing inspiration and at six years-old, a role model of how to be generous,” stated Mary Beth DeCredico, RN, Administrative Director of Maternal, Newborn Services and Pediatrics. “The pediatric patients will be so surprised when they receive their gifts from Gavin. Thank you, Gavin, for all your hard work and for delivering the presents to us personally.”
“For the past several months, Gavin has been saving every penny he earns doing chores and special projects,” stated Brenda Ridgway, Gavin’s grandmother. “He had his heart set on insuring children who are hospitalized have a gift to make them smile during the Holiday Season.  We are so proud of him!”
