Sea Isle City to Host Holiday Extravaganza, Nov. 27-28

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – On Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization (SICCCR) will host the resort’s annual Holiday Extravaganza at Excursion Park, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue.
The two-day event will feature free ice-skating for adults and children from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Nov. 27 (complementary ice-skates included).  There will also be live entertainment on Friday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a Christmas Parade at 6:00 p.m. along JFK Boulevard, featuring a fleet of decorated fire engines from companies around the region and other participants – including Santa Claus, who will appear on a holiday float.  The parade will begin at Central Avenue and continue east before culminating at Excursion Park.
After arriving at Excursion Park, Santa, Mayor Leonard Desiderio, and SICCCR President Christopher Glancey will present a trophy to the fire company with the evening’s best-decorated vehicle. Then, at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Santa will light Excursion Park’s giant Christmas tree, marking the official start of the Holiday Season in Sea Isle City.
After the City’s Christmas tree is lit, youngsters will have the chance to personally speak with Saint Nick while families enjoy complementary hot cocoa and cookies, provided courtesy of the Sea Isle City Taxpayer’s Association. Hot dogs and other seasonal treats will also be available at the Boy Scout Troop 76 booth.
The fun will continue Nov. 28, with more free ice-skating at Excursion Park between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  The Joanne Reagan Dance Studio will provide live entertainment on Saturday at 12 noon, followed by an additional meet-and-greet with Santa Claus from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
On Saturday afternoon, at the close of the Extravaganza, the Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will raffle-off a flat-screen television to one lucky retail customer in honor of “Small Business Saturday.”  Shoppers at participating businesses throughout Sea Isle City on Saturday will be entered in the raffle (with required purchase).
In addition to launching Sea Isle’s 2015 Holiday Season, the Extravaganza will also give everyone the opportunity to make donations to Mayor Desiderio’s annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive.  Throughout the Extravaganza, collection boxes will be located in Excursion Park, where unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items will be collected for families in need. For more information about Mayor Desiderio’s Holiday Toy and Food Drive, phone (609) 263-4461, ext. 1245.
