SEA ISLE CITY — July 9, Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism hosted the resort’s 2014 Little Miss & Junior Miss Sea Isle City Pageant, which featured five Little Miss contestants (ages 5-8) and a dozen Junior Miss hopefuls (ages 9-12). The competition was emceed by Jennifer Fabrico, a teacher with the Pine Hill (NJ) School District and a local summer resident, who regularly volunteers in the community. The winners of the pageant were chosen by judges Bill Geiger, Barbara Pringle and Caroline Jarrard, each of whom are also summer residents of Sea Isle City.
After the contestants were introduced to the audience, each young lady said a few words about herself and answered random questions that were chosen from a basket by 2013 Little Miss Queen Madalyn Delaney and 2013 Junior Miss Queen Rachel Sofroney. The contestants also performed group song-and-dance routines, which were followed by a dance performance by Miss Cape May County Sarah Ford. Afterwards, while the judges were choosing this year’s winners, movie characters “Snow Queen” and “Annie” sang a series of popular songs.
When the moment of truth arrived, each contestant was on the edge of her seat as Mayor Leonard Desiderio stepped to the podium to present trophies, flowers and sashes and tiaras to the evening’s top winners: 2014 Little Miss Sea Isle City Queen Lauren Marsland, 7, of Chalfont, PA, and 2014 Junior Miss Sea Isle City Queen Abigail Kates, 12, of Aston, PA.
The 2014 “Court” of runners-up consists of Little Miss 1st Princess Kayla Marsland, 5, of Chalfont, PA; Little Miss 2nd Princess Lily Alderfer, 5, of Springfield, PA; Junior Miss 1st Princess Noelle Mink, 11, of Garnet Valley, PA; and Junior Miss 2nd Princess Brooke Miller, 12, of Franklinville, NJ.
Each member of the Court also received sashes, trophies and flowers. Additionally, each of the contestants received gift bags, courtesy of Colleen Falcone, owner of Groovy Girlz on Landis Avenue, as well as miniature commemorative trophies, provided by the City of Sea Isle City.
At the close of the pageant, Fabrico announced that all of the pageant’s 17 contestants are invited to appear on a float during Sea Isle City’s 2014 Baby Parade, which will delight spectators along the resort’s Promenade on July 16.
