West Cape May Exploring Sending Students to Cape May Elementary

By Herald Staff

CAPE MAY — The Boards of Education of Cape May City, West Cape May, and Cape May Point will conduct a special joint meeting on Mon., Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. to discuss the recently completed Feasibility Study.
The meeting will be held at the Cape May City Elementary School Auditorium. The Study, completed by The Center for Regional and Business Research of Atlantic Cape Community College, analyses the fiscal and educational advantages and disadvantages of uniting all of the students into the School. The arrangement would establish a sending—receiving relationship with West Cape May similar to what exists with Cape May Point. These two districts would pay tuition to Cape May for each of their students based upon the operating expenses of Cape May City.
The Board will present the report and gather comment from the public regarding the study. The director of the Center, Dr. Richard Perniciaro, will provide an overview of the report. Also attending will be the Executive County Superintendent of Schools, Terrence J. Crowley, and the staff of his office, Michael McKnight, Educational Program Cape May Elementary Specialist, and Lisa Kaminski, Executive County School Business Administrator.
