CREST HAVEN — Cape May County Technical School District held its open house Dec. 2 with the theme “Your Future, Your Choice.”
While the school’s doors were open to all, a special presentation was made, tailored to seventh and eighth graders and their parents entitled, “Why Choose Tech?” It was presented every 20 minutes in the multi-purpose activity center.
Among other attractions throughout the evening was a paraffin hand treatment in the cosmetology class, and in the cafeteria, students from the Food Production Class served healthy treats to visitors.
Students in the American Bounty Café welcomed visitors for tours of the kitchens and restaurant. Sample food, prepared by students was featured.
Assisting History teacher Bill Ladd was Adam Sneathen, a senior, who was busy throughout the evening carving cedar that will become a model Egyptian sarcophagus as part of the History and Anthropology class.
Nearby the carvers was a small, hand-carved canoe and masks from ancient cultures.
In the Graphic Arts Classroom, Morgan Wheaton, a junior, of Court House was busy designing a fire safety poster on computer.
In the French classroom, Megan Oberkofler, a seventh grader from Villas, curiously looked at a model guesthouse.
In the cafeteria, sophomores Chelsea Johnson of Green Creek and Dana DeVault, of Court House helped serve tasty treats as part of the Food Production class.
In Entertainment Production Technology, teacher Jonathan Niemira and senior Ryan McAteer of Wildwood Crest discussed operation of the Pro Tools HD control panel in the new classroom.
Adults seeking to acquire their GED were also given information abut the programs available to them, and testing was taking place during the open house for those GED certificates.
