SEA ISLE CITY – On April 3, students from Bishop McHugh Regional School and Saint Joseph Catholic Church’s Religious Education Program staged “The Living Stations of the Cross” in front of more than 150 parishioners inside the Saint Joseph Church auditorium in Sea Isle City. The 45-minute presentation was a poignant and solemn reminder of Jesus Christ’s suffering and death at Calvary.
During the production, the students dramatically recreated each of the fourteen stations as narrators Ali Robinson, Joseph Tripoli and Rev. Joseph Perreault, pastor, told the story of Jesus’ great sacrifice. Appearing in the lead role was Steven Kramer, a young man who showed great devotion as he solemnly carried the cross through Jerusalem. Madison McGinn portrayed Jesus’ loving mother, Mary; Clancy Larkin played the role of Veronica; Nicole Kramer played Pilate; and many other students effectively portrayed Roman soldiers, the women of Jerusalem, various disciples of Jesus Christ and angels.
“It was wonderfully moving and very well done,” said parishioner Joan Coll. “The students did a great job. We are all so proud of the children of our parish.”
