Kaitlyn Fox, an eighth grader at Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School, recently won first place in the Physics Category of the Junior Division at the 35th Jersey Shore Science Fair held at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey on March 20. Fox now advances to compete at Delaware Valley Science Fair April 6-8 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.
Fox, who has an interest in Physics, submitted her science fair project at Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School in early February to compete at the grade school level. Her project, “How Does the Changing of the Launch Angle Effect the Projectiles’ Travel Distance,” won her first place in the physics division at the grade school’s fair.
In next week’s competition, Fox will go up against 135 first, second and third-place winners in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades from New Jersey, Delaware and Philadelphia.

Dennis
The Dennis Township boys basketball team had a big night on March 15. They played Port Norris in none other than the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, before enjoying a 76ers game.
The DT Hawks played their hearts out and defeated Port Norris by a substantial margin. This is the second year for the city trip and hopefully the Hawks will make it again in 2011. Congrats guys!
Middle Township
The committee for the Middle Township High School After Prom Party came up with a new fundraiser; it’s a flock of flamingos they plant on someone’s lawn. The person who was “flocked” is asked to make a donation, then the committee removes the flamingos and off they fly to another house.
The fundraiser kicked-off March 13, by flocking Peg O’Donnell, former After Prom Party Co-Chair.
The After Prom Party is a major event designed to keep kids safe following the high school prom, which is planned for April 24 this year. Their goal is to keep kids away from drugs and alcohol by providing a festive party.
The After Prom Party is open to all Middle Township High School Juniors and Seniors (whether attending the prom or not) and their prom guests. This social gathering of nearly 400 students runs from 11:30 pm until 5:00 am.
The evening features games, music, entertainment, food and prizes. The event is organized and hosted by parents and is free to all students.
Be sure to keep an eye out to see where the “flock” lands next. Your yard could be next! If you are “flocked”, call After Prom Party Co-chair, Sue Cawley at 602.4760 or send an e-mail to afterpromparty@comcast.net to pledge a donation.
To make a monetary donation please send your check to: MTHS After Prom Party Committee, 300 E. Atlantic Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
To make a food or prize donation please e-mail afterpromparty@comcast.net.
In other Middle news, Elementary #s 1 & 2 recently hosted a Scholastic Book Fair, sponsored and run by the Middle Township PTA.
Book Fair chair Amy Young arranged for volunteers to help out during family events such as Reading Night and Multicultural night. Record sales were reported, as the schools sold over $24,000 in books!
