Cape Trinity Catholic
Cape Trinity Catholic hosted the 3rd annual Gobble Wobble 5k Run & 1 Mile Walk from our new address at 1500 Central Avenue on November 27.
Runners took off at 8:30, ran east to the boardwalk, turned at Schellenger and made their way back to the school.
Over 100 runners & walkers took part. Families, strollers & dogs! In the spirit of our yearlong collaboration with the Surgical Club at PCOM, 7 medical students attended and ran blood pressure screenings & checked heart rates.
Recently, Cape Trinity Catholic honored Veterans and hosted a Patriotic Day. Retired USCG Captain, Mike Lovett (grandfather of 2 CTC students) spoke to the 3rd – 8th grade about service in Vietnam with the US Army in 1967 and later over 20 years of service in the USCG.
Lovett was a Huey pilot in Vietnam and showed the students various pictures, flight suits, boots and flight helmet from his time in Vietnam. Lovett’s peacetime service includes flying helicopters in Search & Rescue for the Coast Guard. He was stationed as far away as Kodiak, Alaska to Miami, Florida.
Lovett encouraged awareness of Veterans, the service they give every day & asked the students to give thanks for our freedom!
Crest Memorial
Crest Memorial’s Student Council held a food drive during the two weeks before Thanksgiving this year for the United Way Pantry in Wildwood. Each student council representative was assigned a homeroom to collect cans.
Monica Orlandini, council president, and Gia Tamarro, council vice president, were instrumental in collecting, counting, and boxing the 1700 cans and personal items. The winning homerooms were 4C (Mrs. Ciglinsky) and 7Y (Mrs. Yecco), each collecting 250 cans. Both winning homerooms will be given a pizza party for their winning contributions. Eleven student council members delivered the boxed goods to the United Way on November. 29.
Thank you to all Crest Memorial students for their donations. The United Way is located on 230 E Maple Ave and is always in need of donations especially large diapers. If you would like to help, call United Way at (609) 729-2002.
