Dennis Township
Fieldtrips. Frisbee. Flowers. Fish. These are the things April and May were made of in Dennis Township School District this year. In the elementary and middle schools, students visited major cities, raised money for charities and had a little fun.
In early April, the seventh grade traveled to Washington DC for a day of sightseeing, museum going and experiencing our nation’s capital. They explored the Mall and stood beside the Washington Monument as they marveled at its height.
Due to the rain, students also spent quite a bit of time inside the museums, but they very much enjoyed that as well.
All seventh graders were required to use maps of the area and locate landmarks or museum exhibits. They accumulated many photographs that were made into posters that now hang in the Middle School hallway.
DT students also helped their community by playing Frisbee! Seventh and eighth graders played in a Frisbee Tournament on May 7 and all had a good time. The winners were presented with a “golden Frisbee”.
Students, parents and teachers paid five dollars to play in a single elimination tournament, which was then donated to local charities CARA, Family Promise and the Make a Wish Foundation. Devon Nagle and Julianna Garcia wrote a heartfelt letter to each of the charities, accompanied by a total donation of $180.
After the numerous “April showers”, students in the Middle School dressed in their flowery best on May 13 in celebration of “May flowers”. Alexis Morrow and 8th grade Language Arts teacher, Majorie Kozakowski, posed for the camera as two of our most flowery DT members.
Seventh and eighth graders dressed in their favorite beach going and swimming attire attended the last Middle School dance of the year, “Under the Sea”. Summer Herlihy and Tyler Kohlhaas, pictured in photo, smiled for the camera as members of the “Ocean Court”, which was presided over by King Mark Konczyk and Queen Sarah Hoff.
