Cape May County Technical
GED testing at the Cape May County Technical School District is June 2 and 3 and again June 16 and 17 from 4 to 9 p.m. Mandatory pre-registration and orientation for the June 2 and 3 session is Tuesday, June 1, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.; for the June 16 and 17 test, pre-registration and orientation is Tuesday, June 15, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the GED test area, room 145 of the Tozour Building, 188 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House.
Those interested in the GED test must bring a money order or cash for $50 (no personal checks) and one form of government-issued photo ID. Applicants who are 16 must present a photo ID, original birth certificate and Social Security card; also, 16 and 17 year olds must present their certificate of consent to participate at the time of registration. Contact the GED office for a form.

Eight students in the adult cosmetology class at the Cape May County Technical School District were named to the Director’s List recently for achieving straight A’s in the third marking period, Melissa Lyston, Hollie Fulk, Samantha D’Ambrosio, Sarah DiIenno, Janine Eliason, Kimberly Furchak, Amanda Hall and Brandi Watt. Four students, Noelle Rosemann, Melissa Lyston, Melissa Alfaiate and Stacey O’Malley, were recognized for perfect attendance during the third marking period.
In other Tech news, five students in the post secondary Certified Dental Assisting class at the Cape May County Technical School District were recognized recently for perfect attendance for the third marking period, Candida Ditzler, teacher, and Cathy Baron, Tracey Coleman, Rachel Harwood and Ursula Ormston, and Terry Bell.

Glenwood Avenue
The 8th annual Mother’s Day Tea party was held at Glenwood Avenue Elementary School’s Annex. Pre-Kindergarten students in Mrs. Haas’, Mrs. Bostard’s, and Ms. Finocchiaro’s classes honored and thanked their moms, who are so generous and kind throughout the year. Students read and recited poetry in both English and Spanish, and a photograph of each student with their mom was taken as a Mother’s Day present. Preparing for the event, the students made festive newspaper hats and centerpieces. Attendance was standing room only.
Wildwood Crest
Crest Memorial School students in grades three through eight who have produced exemplary written work during the months of March and April were recently rewarded with a pizza party and prominent display of their compositions.
Crest Memorial Principal, Ann-Maria Guevara, an educator who strives to improve student-writing skills through encouragement and example, originated the Principal’s Corner.
Not only is the work of the young writers exhibited in the main entrance to the school, but they were also treated to a pizza lunch with Guevara. During the lunch, students discussed their essays with the principal.
Those achieving Principal’s Corner received a certificate commending them for their writing excellence.

The topics and styles for student writing showcased on the Principal’s Corner bulletin board are varied, ranging from book reports and essays to poetry throughout the year. The student compositions will remain on the Principal’s Corner bulletin board for the next eight weeks.
