LCMR Stands UPP to Take the Pledge

With substance abuse on the rise throughout Cape May County, Mrs. Nicole Caruso, the Substance Abuse Counselor at Lower Cape May Regional High School and Superintendent Mr. Christopher Kobik, decided to take action. Stand UPP is acronym for Uniting Parents for Protection.
“It’s a pledge for parents to take stating they will not allow nor condone underage drinking or drug use,” said Caruso.
Caruso stressed that “safety is number one” when it come to the students of LCMR, as well as all underage students in the nation. Stand UPP provides a network of concerned parents and informs them that there are faculty members like Caruso supporting the cause against substance abuse.
“Research shows that kids obtain their alcohol from their parents 90% of the time whether the parents are aware or not,” said Caruso.
With an overall purpose of decreasing exposure and use of drugs and alcohol, both Caruso and Kobik encourage parents to pledge not to allow nor condone underage drinking and drug use by signing the Stand UPP pledge, which can be found at www.lcmrschooldistrict.com.
Lower Cape May Regional’s Culinary Connoisseurs Cater Board Meeting

Lower Cape May Regional’s Advanced Culinary Arts 3 students are preparing to cater a board of education meeting on February 27 at 5:30 p.m.
Under the supervision of Chef David Heary, LCMR’s Culinary 3 students will serve a five-course meal to the school board and district administrators. Dishes on the student-created menu include: fried eggplant bruschetta, cioppino, roasted butternut squash risotto, apple/almond/pancetta stuffed pork loin, and tiramisu.
“This practical experience will enable students to plan, prepare and execute a catering menu that they developed and realize the work needed to complete this real world event,” said Heary.
Peter Pan Comes to LCMR

Lower Cape May Regional High School is performing “Peter Pan” as their 2014 Spring Musical. Corinne Ryan, the theatre director of Lower’s musical, says, “We are very excited about this production, as we are “flying” Peter and the Darling children.”
This classic production will be performed on March 21 and March 22 at 7:00 pm along with a Sunday matinee performance at 2:00 pm. Tickets will be sold for $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for LCMR students and children under 12. Ryan asks for you to “come to fly with us to Neverland for a swashbuckling epic that delivers non-stop action, spellbinding music and great choreography.”
