ERMA — The students of Lower Cape May Regional High School will present the Julie Styne and Bob Merrill musical biography of Vaudeville and Broadway comedienne Fanny Brice, “Funny Girl,” March 18, 19 and 20 at 8 p.m. and Sunday March 21 at 2 p.m. at the Paul W. Schmidtchen Theatre at the high school.
“Funny Girl” chronicles Brice’s stage career from her beginnings at Keeney’s Music Hall to headlining the Ziegfeld Follies on Broadway. Along the way, Brice embraces a relationship with Nick Arnstein, a world traveled man-about-town, professional gambler and con man.
“Funny Girl” features musical numbers “People”, “His Love Makes Me Beautiful” and “Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat.”
Student Kaleigh La Maina stars as Brice with Brian Bienko as Nick Arnstein. Zak La Tore plays choreographer Eddie Ryan, Mike Edwards as as music hall owner Tom Keeney and Jacklyn Fazio portays Brice’s mother.
Vice Principal Bert Kern plays Florenz Ziegfeld. Teacher Emeritus Jim Colubiale plays Ziegfeld’s favorite tenor.
General admission tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door one hour prior to the performance.
