COURT HOUSE — In the first year of the program, eight Cape May County Technical students in the Post-Secondary Welding Program earned nationally recognized certifications. The students earned the American Welding Society Basic Welder 1-G Certification after successfully completing a practical test that required them to demonstrate their welding competency to a Certified Welding Inspector.
The Post-Secondary Welding program is an eight month program, held three nights per week, from 5-8 p.m. and is designed to give students the understanding and hands-on skills needed to enter the welding industry. The program is aligned with the objectives and curriculum of the American Welding Society and the curriculum includes theory and practical application in Oxy/Acetylene cutting, Arc Welding, Fusion and Brazing.
Mr. Thomas Jackson is also the Welding teacher for the high school and has enjoyed teaching the evening post-secondary programs this year. Enrollment pre-testing for the next Post-Secondary Welding class has already begun and the class is scheduled to start again in Sept. 2016.
