WOODBINE — Cape Assist, in conjunction with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Woodbine School District, will host a special presentation entitled “Pills to Heroin” on May 14, from 5 to 6:30 at the Woodbine Elementary School Cafeteria.
This free event, for adults, parents and children grades six and up, will educate the public about the current heroin epidemic that is effecting communities across the country—including Cape May County.
In 2014, in Cape May County, there were 121 drug overdoses with 20 being fatal. In 2015 there have been 31 overdoses with four fatalities.
Every student who attends will receive a souvenir from Taylor Swift’s “Red Tour”
Plus there will be a raffle drawing at 6:30 pm for a flat screen TV. (Winner must be present to win.)
Pizza and drinks will be served after the program, and Cape Assist Staff will be available for questions.
Woodbine Municipal Alliance will have a table with informational materials as part of the event. A Proclamation from the Mayor will be presented by the Alliance prior to the presentation.
Earlier on the day of this presentation, the School will hold its “Race to Read” day, which will complement its “Race Against Drug & Alcohol” initiative.
The Spring Book Fair is being held the week of May 11-18. On the afternoon of May 14, from 2:30 to 5, there will be a Family Night, with crafts, readers, and other attractions.
