WILDWOOD CREST — Twenty-eight Crest Memorial School students have their literary work on display on a bulletin board at the main entrance to the school, where it will remain for the next two months. Their work was selected by their teachers and Principal Ann-Maria Guevara as the best examples of student writing for the month.
The bulletin board, titled “Principal’s Corner,” showcases outstanding young authors in grades 3 through 8. Teachers submit the best writing by students each month and the selected essays and projects are posted on the bulletin board. The authors enjoyed have a pizza lunch with Guevara as their reward for excellence. During the lunch, excerpts from the students’ work was read and discussed.
The Principal’s Corner bulletin board is a way for the school to highlight student academic achievement and encourage students to write more, according to Guevara.
The students are also given a certificate by Guevara, which states that the selected student has “a gift for writing that transcends mere words and reaches instead into the language of the spirit.”
