Middle Township School District Hosts Demo Day to Celebrate the End of an Era

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Middle Township School District (MTSD) will host a Demo Day April 28 for students, families, and community members to help mark the end of an era as the district’s famous pink annex buildings get demolished. The event will feature games, food and, of course, demolition!
Family-friendly events will bookend a ‘first swing’ ceremony at 11:30 a.m. to officially mark the start of demolition. The district chose to make this more of a ‘farewell party’ than a traditional demolition as these buildings house memories for so many families and educators in the Middle Township community.
Demo Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Middle Township Board of Education, 216 South Main St., Court House.
These buildings used to be the Pre-K classrooms for School 1 students. After voters approved a $21 million referendum in 2016, construction began and expanded School 1 to include new Pre-K classrooms and a courtyard for the students. The pink annex buildings became very overcrowded and inefficient for educational development and growth over their years of use. They are old and weathered and no longer have much curb appeal, yet their demolition will be bittersweet for the many who walked their halls.
