COURT HOUSE – Students at Middle Township High School will soon be able to earn extra credits to prepare for college or the work force in a new program announced by the high school.
The program centers on four new academies covering a variety of fields in which students will receive a certificate of advance standing upon graduation. There will be opportunities for students to increase the number of credits from the required 120 to anywhere up to 160.
The new academies include one for business, another for computer sciences, a third for medicine and health and a fourth for the performing arts. The latter, availing itself of the school’s state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, will cover the areas of dance, vocal, media, TV and theatre. The academies will be staffed by members of the high school faculty and will begin with the September, 2015 term.
Students, their parents and the public at large are invited to an explanatory meeting on Thursday night, March 12, at 6:30 at The PAC. School officials will be present to speak about the new venture and answer questions.
“The Middle Township High School is dedicated to providing our students with not only a comprehensive high school education, but focused courses of study that set them apart from other students applying to college and entering the work force,” said high school principal Frank Riggitano. “Our administration, faculty and staff are excited to offer this new opportunity to our current and incoming students.”
