COURT HOUSE – Michael Kopakowski, superintendent of Middle Township public schools, is expected to retire this month, after a school board in Pennsylvania announced that they have voted to hire him to take over schools in Morrisville July 1, according to a report in Middle Township Gazette.
“I haven’t signed a contract yet, nor have I retired,” Kopakowski told Middle Township Gazette June 2. “I can’t do that until I have a signed contract.”
Kopakowski confirmed that he has received an offer, but said that the Morrisville schools’ attorney isn’t yet available to discuss the position.
If Kopakowski signs the contract, his last day with the Middle Township school district will be June 30.
Kopakowski confirmed that the school board had posted his position on the schools’ internal website June 3.
The superintendent said he didn’t know whether the board has any internal candidates at this time.
Kopakowski has been the superintendent of the Middle Township schools since 2003. Prior to that he held positions as high school principal in Hammonton, then as assistant superintendent and finally superintendent of the Hammonton School District.
