CAPE MAY – Each year, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities’ (MAC) educational outreach programs benefit more than 10,000 students. MAC is fully committed to providing educational resources to area educators and schoolchildren and strives to make all of its outreach programs available at little to no cost to area schools. In order to raise the funds to support the important mission of educational outreach, MAC will be conducting its first-ever online auction on www.biddingforgood.com beginning on Tuesday, July 19.
BiddingforGood.com is the leader in online charity auctions and has run more than 12,000 auctions and raised more than $120 million for charity. MAC will auction Cape May getaways, vacation packages, gourmet dinners and dining certificates, original artwork, jewelry, sports memorabilia, a sport fishing trip and much more on BiddingforGood.com. Visitors to the site can click on “View All Auctions,” then New Jersey auctions and then on MAC’s auction, where they will be able to view the items up for auction and place bids until Aug. 4. The auction is being held in conjunction with the Mermaids and Mariners Benefit on Saturday, August 6 at this year’s Cape May Designer Show House located at Osprey Landing at Cape May Marine, 109 Rosemans Lane, and at Osprey Landing’s Clubhouse. The special evening includes a tour of the Cape May Designer Show House, delicious food, open Top Shelf bar, and dancing and entertainment all to benefit MAC’s educational outreach programs. A few of the online auction items will be carried over to the live auction at the benefit on August 6.
Some of the online auction items include the following: a Romantic two-night Getaway at the Fairthorne B&B in a premium room with a bottle of wine and $100 gift certificate for dinner at one of Cape May’s gourmet restaurants; a two-night stay in a premium room at the Queen Victoria B&B; a Sherlock Holmes Weekend overnight package in Cape May from March 16 through March 18, 2012 with accommodations at Leith Hall B&B; a gourmet dinner for six at Cape May’s 2010 Designer Show House, the Fairthorne Cottage; a Mexican Vacation that includes one week in a two-bedroom condo at Sunset Group Resort in either Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, or Riviera Maya; an overnight stay at the Chelsea in Atlantic City with dinner for two at Chelsea Prime; a Sunset Harbor Cruise with drinks and hor d’oeuvres aboard ‘The Majestic Mary,’ followed by an outdoor dinner at the home of Tedd and Mary McKenney; a framed original watercolor of the Cape May Lighthouse by award-winning Cape May Point artist John Safrit; a framed original print of Fisherman’s Wharf by West Cape May artist Rich Flanegan; a handmade “Happy Hour” bag and wristlet by Mary Stewart; a pair of tickets to see the NJ Nets; and an autographed hockey puck by NJ Devils Center Tim Sestito.

MAC’s public history programs are funded in part by an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission in the Department of State.
