COURT HOUSE – Time is running out to register a four-person team to participate in the 2013 Atlantic Cape Community College Scramble “Fore” Scholarships golf tournament, Oct. 11, at the Cape May National Golf Club.
This year’s event will feature a hole-in-one shootout for a chance to win a 2013 Key West 189 Family Sport CC fishing boat sponsored by Cape Harbor Marine Services LLC.
Additionally, registrants will have an opportunity to win “The Chalfonte Hotel Experience,” which includes an overnight stay at The Chalfonte Hotel and dinner for two in the Magnolia Room, valued at nearly $500.
The tournament will follow a scramble format, beginning with a shotgun-start at 11 a.m.
Player fees, which include gifts, lunch and a dinner awards banquet, are $150 per person and $500 per foursome.
Golfers can participate in a variety of skills challenges, including: rowboat chipping, closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests. A Kindle Fire HD will be awarded to one of the skilled golfers. Other gifts for participating golfers are water bottles, flasks, golf towels, T-shirts and cigars.
Individuals and businesses can also participate in six sponsorship package opportunities ranging from $125 to $5,000. Last year’s event raised $25,000 for Atlantic Cape scholarships and Foundation operations.
The historic Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May will host an awards dinner at 5:30 p.m., in the acclaimed Magnolia Room. Chefs Dot Burton and Lucille Thompson of West Cape May, who are celebrating their 75th anniversary with the Chalfonte, will prepare their famous crab cake and fried chicken dinner. The chefs will also be available for a cookbook signing.
Atlantic Cape’s Academy of Culinary Arts students will prepare a variety of decadent desserts. Atlantic Cape art students’ paintings will be auctioned during the dinner to raise additional scholarship funds. Tickets to the awards dinner are $50 and can be purchased online at www.atlantic.edu/golf.
Located on Route 9 near renowned Victorian Cape May, and centrally located along one of the world’s most famous bird migration flyways, Cape May National has been recognized as one of the most naturally beautiful courses in the United States.
