Interact Club of Middle Township H.S. Goes Green

The Middle Township High School Interact Club is hosting a Go Green Concert on Friday, May 8 at 6:30 pm in the High School Cafeteria. Interact is an international service learning organization, sponsored locally by the Mid Jersey Cape Rotary Club. The group formed this year and will undertake service projects every year to better their communities and the world. This year, they are focusing their efforts on providing and maintaining clean water locally and in communities throughout the world.
Water-related diseases (such as dysentery and others) kill two million people a year around the world, many of whom are children. Money can provide underdeveloped communities throughout the world with infrastructure such as communal standpipes, wells and protected springs to provide clean water to these communities and sharply decrease mortality. Locally, educating our community and children about the importance of clean water can help preserve the world for future generations.
Proceeds from the Go Green concert sales will go toward to meeting that goal. The concert will feature seven student bands recruited by Interact President Dylan Hughes, includ-ing “In Plain View,” “GATORAGE,” “Bite Your Tongue,” “Ruff Howzin,” “Frame the Shot,” “Let’s Just Say,” “Note to Self,” and the talent of Nolan Maher’s band.
Tickets for the concert are $5 for students with an I.D., and $7 for adults, with a Family Package (up to 4 students and 2 adults) available for $30, and can be purchased in advance through Interact members. Refreshments and other concert memorabilia, including a t-shirt with logo designed by Interact member Dustin Yearicks and produced by student Eddie Obropta, will also be on sale.
