Green Circle of Life at Cape Tech

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Mr. Jim McKinley’s Aquatic Ecosystems class at the Cape Tech high school has been putting the finishing touches on the foundation for an 81 cubic foot three-compartment compost bin and two worm farms. Compostable kitchen waste from the district’s kitchens along with grass and leaf waste from the school grounds will be placed in the composter and worm bins. The worms will be used to help feed the catfish and tilapia in the aquaculture ponds along with the normal floating pellet food. The fish will then feed the people at one of Tech’s annual “Fishy Fridays”. Hence, the “Green Circle” is complete. The project was funded by a Cape Educational Fund grant program, awarded to Mr. McKinley. For more information on Cape Tech, visit www.capemaytech.com.
