Electronic Health Record Specialist Program Offered at Atlantic Cape

COURT HOUSE – This fall, Atlantic Cape Community College will offer a new program, Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist (CEHRS), at its Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd.
The 230-hour program begins Oct. 7, and prepares students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. Students will also review the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and how to maintain the medical, legal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record.
Key course topics include:
• Importance of the medical record as a legal document
• The effect of confidential communication laws on the release of medical information and HIPAA
• A “real-life” EHR experience using Medcin software to perform health information tasks
• Importance of data accuracy, consistency, completeness and security of information
Students who complete this course will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer
Association Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist exam.
