COURT HOUSE — The 2014-2015 Cosmetology Program at Cape May County Technical School is scheduled to begin on Sept. 3, 2014. This 10-month program is open to adult students, 18 years of age or older by Oct. 15, 2014, with either a high school diploma or equivalent. Potential applicants are required to meet program criteria on the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) prior to acceptance.
The Cosmetology program at CMCTS prepares students for the New Jersey State Cosmetology/Hairstyling licensure exam and for employment in a salon, barber shop or related business. Cosmetology students learn about all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multi-cultural practices, related sciences, business principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics. The curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. In the last half of the program, students work with the public in a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills.
In-person registration for the TABE Pre-test is now being accepted in the Adult Education Office, room #145 Pre-registration for the TABE is required and it is recommended that interested individuals contact the office as soon as possible for the next scheduled testing date, as seats are limited. The pre-test fee is $15.00.
