Cape Tech Art Goes Under the Sea

COURT HOUSE – Three students in the Cape Tech high school Graphic Design Program of Study have advanced as national finalists in the US Coastal America Illustration contest. Suzanne Sawyer of North Cape May, Matt Powers of Middle Township, & Alexandria Byron of Wildwood Crest, all juniors, entered through the Camden Aquarium sponsor. The art submissions were judged by prominent members of industry in art and water sciences. Judges who selected the finalists included world-renowned ocean explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle, National Geographic photographer Brian Skerry, cartoonist Jim Toomey and marine life artist Wyland.
The three Cape Tech student entries are featured on the organization’s Facebook Page, and the national winners will be announced in May. Winning artwork will be on display in D.C., as the national winner is presented with an award in Washington, DC. on June 7, 2012.
