Cape May Tech Recognizes Successful Graduate

CREST HAVEN – Superintendent Dr. Nancy Hudanich recognized Hanna Toft , a 2008 graduate, as the New Jersey County Council of Vocational-Technical Schools 2016 “Successful Graduate ” for Cape May County Technical School District.   
While in high school, the Successful Graduate was a member of the National Honor Society and the New Jersey FFA Association, and majored in the Pre-Engineering Career and Technical Education program.  Ms. Toft was elected treasurer and then president of the New Jersey FFA State Association, whose focus is to provide leadership to students of Agricultural Education throughout New Jersey, plan and present conferences, visit various State schools and attend the State Convention.
She earned her bachelor’s degree with Summa Cum Laude honors in Marine Biology Science from Richard Stockton College.  In 2010, she began substituting at the Tech and transitioned into the fulltime Natural Science Technology Teacher and FFA Advisor. 
Ms. Toft provides a real world curriculum, under the auspice of New Jersey Division of Fish & Wildlife, by restoring osprey habitats, banding wildlife for State tracking, managing duck traps for student observation and by scheduling various guest presenters from the division to come in to teach the students about their careers.  Ms. Toft’s desire to share her passion for the environment and its natural resources is reflected in her students’ enthusiasm “learning to do and doing to learn,” which is part of the National FFA Organization’s motto.  Ms. Toft shared her belief and stated, “The only way our natural resources will be here for the future generation is to give them the knowledge and the passion for the environment now.”
