COURT HOUSE – Members of the FFA Chapter from Cape May County Technical High School competed recently in the 84th National FFA Convention.
Cape May Tech FFA Chapter received a 3-Star Emblem, the highest rating given to a chapter by the National FFA Organization. Cape May Tech was the only 3-Star Chapter in NJ. FFA chapter advisors are Joann Sopchak and Hans Toft.
Alec McAlarnen, 2010 graduate, received the American FFA Degree, the highest degree bestowed by the National FFA Organization. This degree is awarded to FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and have made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences.
Ami Adams, 2011 graduate, was named Agriscience Student of the Year Runner Up. Adams conducted experiments on diamondback terrapins, which are the only sea turtles common to southern New Jersey. The Agriscience Student Recognition Program is sponsored by Monsanto as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
The 84th National FFA Convention was held in late October in Indianapolis, Indiana, and drew 50,000-plus FFA members, advisors and guests from across the country. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
