CAPE MAY – The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) announces a new scholarship to be awarded to a graduating high school senior during the 2018-19 school year. The scholarship award will become an integral component of the organization’s annual Lessons of History Distinguished Lecture Series, now in its seventh year.
The Lessons of History Scholar Program scholarship competition is open to graduating seniors at Cape May County high schools.
Scholar applicants are required to:
– Attend the Cape May Lessons of History lecture on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at 4 p.m. entitled, “Women and Children First?: #MeToo, #NeverAgain and The New Faces of American Activism,” presented by Professor Natalia Mehlman Petrzela. The lecture is held at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Ave., Cape May. Financial assistance to student applicants to attend the lecture is available on a case-by-case basis.
– Submit an original 500-word essay answering the question: “Has this lecture affected your perception of the topic?”
– Submit two (2) letters of recommendations from teachers or employers.
Application forms are now available via guidance offices, and completed forms shall be submitted to guidance counselors no later than Monday, Oct. 1. Student applicants shall attend the lecture on Sunday, Oct. 7. The essay and recommendations shall be submitted by Monday, Nov. 12.
