Cape May City Elementary School Celebrates 50 Years

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – Did you graduate or attend the Cape May City Elementary School? Would you like to reunite with your former classmates and teachers? The school is celebrating its 50th anniversary June 5 starting at 5:30 p.m. The evening’s theme “The Golden Gem by the Sea” will turn the auditorium/gym into a Golden Anniversary Gala. Take a walk down memory lane, mix and mingle with former classmates and teachers or take a tour of the school. Enjoy and even dance to live music by the local band, Old School. Refreshments will be provided by local restaurants including Lucky Bones and the Washington Inn.
“We are celebrating 50 years of educational excellence,” said Victoria Zelenak, School Superintendent. “We are reaching out to former students and teachers to attend the event. Golden Gem by the Sea is a perfect description for our school. So many people have fond memories of their school days at Cape May City Elementary.”
Pictures, yearbooks, and school memorabilia will be available for alumni to recapture their Cape May City Elementary school years. A photo booth will be provided by Exit Zero so alumni members can take home souvenir pictures with their classmates and teachers.
Nametags, Welcome and Reconnect Stations, Souvenir Programs and Memory Books will allow attendees a chance to reminisce from 1965 to 2015.
A survey on www.cmcboe.org allows former students to connect with the school. It asks what years former students attended, if they came from the Coast Guard families, their favorite memories of the school and contact information.
Those planning to attend the 50th Anniversary event are requested to R.S.V.P. to Mrs. Lauren Harner at 609-884-8485. Email: lharner@cmcboe.org or R.S.V.P to alumni member Gail Wilsey at 609-602-0405/ gailwilsey@gmail.com. Information is also available on Cape May City Elementary School’s Facebook page and Twitter. The school needs R.S.V.Ps. so that ample refreshments may be provided. Also, go to the website: www.cmcboe.org
