VILLAS – As you may be aware, the City of Cape May has issued a feasibility study that recommends the dissolution of the Lower Cape May Regional School District. Additionally, the Township of Lower has stated its intent to oppose the efforts of Cape May by releasing its own feasibility study. The Board of Education for the Lower Cape May Regional School District, however, has an obligation to serve the children of all three of its constituent communities. These include the City of Cape May, the Township of Lower, and the Borough of West Cape May. It was with this mindset that the Board of Education requested a referendum from the citizens of all of its communities to determine the public sentiment on this important issue.
The Board of Education’s next step will be to review the feasibility studies of Cape May and Lower Township. We will consider the impact of the dissolution on the Board’s ability to provide a thorough and efficient education for the children in all of its communities. We will then make a determination to adopt one of the two feasibility studies or remain neutral.

Lower Cape May Regional School District Board of Education
