Bishop McHugh Announces Catholic Daughters of America Winners

Each year the Catholic Daughters of the Americas holds an Education Contest for students in grades six through eight. The themes this year were: “Jesus loves us”, “How do we spread that love?”, and “How do I promote peace in the world?”.
Mrs. Vera McQuillan presented awards to the following Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic school students on behalf of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court, Our Lady of Mercy 1655.
The following sixth grade students received awards for their poetry submissions:
First place: Catie Tomlin
Second place: Frankie Edwardi
Third place: Jamie Butler
The following seventh grade students were recognized for their art submissions:
First place: Justin Klemick
Second place: Mackenzie Butler
Third place: Julia Sittineri
Receiving awards for their essay submissions, eighth grade students:
First place: Aidan Sorensen,
Second place: Brenna Laverty
Third place: Emily Grimes
The first place winners in each category will advance to the state level.
