Baptist Academy Pupils Earn Statewide Honors

RIO GRANDE — Two ninth graders, Johnella Idechiil and Samantha Rekemel, won honors in this year’s Garden State Association of Christian School’s Academic and Fine Arts Competition.
Both are students at the Rio Grande Baptist Academy. Idechil memo-rized and recited a six- minute excerpt from the book “Three from Gali-lee” by Marjorie Holmes to win first prize in the Junior High Religious Reading category.
Rekemel created a large charcoal landscape titled “The Beauty of God’s Creation” to win second prize in the highly competitive Monochromatic Drawing category.
The Rio Grande Baptist Academy is in its second year of operation, pres-ently offering instruction for students in kindergarten through ninth grade with plans to expand to 12th grade. It is a min-istry of the Rio Grande Bible Baptist Church.
