AVALON — This year Avalon Elementary School put on a fabulous and entertaining rendition of The Wizard of Oz, Jr. Lena Dougherty played Dorothy and her sister Bryn played Toto. The other leads were 8th grader Connor Schiela as the Tin Man, 7th graders, Abigail Cherry and Jenna DiPasquale as the Scarecrow and the Lion. Ashley Ohntrup was the beautiful Glinda and Nynoshka Vasquez played the ferocious Wicked Witch.
What makes this spring production so unique is that the entire school is involved. The Career Education classes, including STEM and the ARTS design and build many of the props and sets used in the show. The Student Council created and sold candy grams and ran the concession stand.
The Stone Harbor Choir (grades 2nd-4th) participated as the Munchkins.
The students look forward to next year’s spring production!
