COURT HOUSE— Cape May County residents have until April 15 to apply for a full-tuition two-year Marjorie Ward Leaders Scholarship at Atlantic Cape Community College.
ACCC Foundation established the scholarships in honor of the late Cape May County resident, Marjorie Ward, who bequeathed $500,000 to ACCC. Under terms of her will, ACCC created an endowment to fund scholarships for students of Cape May County.
ACCC selects Cape May County residents annually as “Marjorie Ward Scholars” to receive full tuition to the college for two years, leadership skills training and support from the college’s Office of Student Services.
Scholarship criteria includes: demonstration of leadership potential through school, community, civic or athletic activities, a grade point average of 2.5 or above, and financial need. Applicants must graduate from high school within the year in which they apply for the scholarship. Recipients will be selected in mid-May.
Ward was a retired educator who passed away in 2005 at the age of 105. She taught for many years in the Montclair school system and retired in 1958 to Cape May.
