Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s ‘Gardening by the Seasons’ Workshop Series Continues

COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agricultural and Resource Management Division is offering the next class in its “Gardening by the Seasons” workshop series entitled, From Hive to Honey in April.  This session will take place April 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.  (Turn at the light at ACCC, make the first right). The building is handicapped accessible.
The class will be taught by Jennifer Sawyer, Beekeeper and Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator for Cape May County.  Participants will learn about the basics of honeybee biology, the role of the beekeeper & the bees, and products of the hive.  The presentation will be followed by a honey extraction demonstration and honey tasting.  Live bees will be on display.
This is a beginners class, therefore, no prior experience is required.  Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will follow at 6 p.m. The fee for the workshop is $20 per person and pre-registration is required.  Please contact Dana Tyndall, Agriculture Secretary, for more information or to register at 609-465-5115 ext. 607 or via email: DANA.TYNDALL@co.cape-may.nj.us
