COURT HOUSE — The third annual food day on Oct. 24 will see thousands of events across the nation celebrating a movement toward more healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Food day is a chance to celebrate what our food system does right, and take action to bring us closer to a food system with “real food” that is produced with care for environment, animals, and the women and men who grow, harvest, and serve it.
This year at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, we will join the nation to celebrate food day on Oct. 24 with “Preserving the Harvest.” Our program will include a food day Lunch prepared by John Webersinn followed by an afternoon of lectures, demonstrations, and presentations. We are featuring Organic Farming 101, Canning for the Home, Basic Beekeeping and Honey Production, Rutgers Against Hunger, Junior Chefs, and a presentation from the Rutgers Food Innovation Center which provides business and technology expertise to startup and established food companies.
Registration is required by Oct. 21. Seating is limited. We are asking for a donation of canned goods at our food day program to support the Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH) initiative and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
Please call (609) 465-5115 Ext. 609 or email mcourtney@co.cape-may.nj.us for the day’s schedule and to register.
Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Cooperative Extension educational programs are offered to all without regard to race, religion, color, age, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
