Rutgers Cooperative Extension Hosts Coffee Fridays for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – The Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Program invites Grandparents Raising Grandchildren to join them for Coffee Fridays again in 2018. Grandparents raising their grandchildren are invited to come on Fridays for coffee and conversation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey 08210.  The building is handicap accessible.
Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator, said, “Coffee Fridays have been very successful in providing grandparents with a chance to meet with other grandparents in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, so we are happy to continue the program in 2018.”  Rochford added, “ Our grandparents are able to unwind over a cup of coffee while discussing issues and concerns related to raising their grandchildren. While most grandparents plan to spend time with their grandchildren, they don’t plan to raise them. Taking responsibility for a grandchild can raise many questions.”
Grandparents are invited to come learn about some of the resources and support available to them and also share their thoughts and concerns.  Additional Coffee Fridays are scheduled for Jan. 19, Feb. 23, March 23, April 20, and May 18.
There is no charge for this program, however, please RSVP by calling 465-5115, ext. 3609.
