Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent for Cape May County Presents ‘Farming 101’ at the Cape May County 4-H Fair

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Bring your farming questions and come talk to Jenny S. Carleo, Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent for Cape May County, and local farmers on Friday, July 20 during the 4-H Fair!
Carleo will be hosting “Farming 101,” hourly virtual field trips followed by casual conversations with her and local farmers, starting at 1 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House – South Dennis Rd., Cape May Court House.
Come watch a video and hear how to grow and market the following Ultra-Niche crops:
1 p.m. – Asparagus
2 p.m. – Blueberries
3 p.m. – Beach Plums
Carleo said, “I am pleased to be able to hold these sessions during the 4-H Fair. There are three diverse crops to learn about, but more importantly, the opportunity for me and local farmers to talk with members of the community.”
Refreshments will be served. So, beat the heat, come inside our air-conditioned facility, watch a short video and learn about farming locally from the experts in a casual, informal setting.
Jenny Carleo has been the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent for Cape May County and a faculty member of Rutgers University since 2006.
Carleo conducts scientific research on local farms growing small fruits. She has worked extensively in floriculture, ornamentals and vegetable production in the past. She also serves as the Project Director for “Ultra-Niche Crops for the Progressive, New Farmer,” a USDA funded Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program project.
