THE WILDWOODS – Runners from all over the country will soon be running throughout the Wildwoods in the first ever Wild Half – Half Marathon on Aug. 28, 2011. The Wild Half is an event designed to attract families to see and experience the Wildwoods, NJ – many for the first time.
The race is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center; however, limited road closures in certain areas of the island will take place as early as 6:30 a.m.
There will be road closures or limited access routes in North Wildwood from 6:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m. Roads impacted will include JFK Boulevard, 2nd Avenue, 1st Avenue, Anglesea, Route 147 (reduced traffic flow) and Ocean Drive.
In Middle Township, runners will head out to Route 147 and back to the boardwalk via above route.
In Wildwood from 6 a.m.–11 a.m., roads impacted will include Boardwalk, Ocean Avenue at Rio Grande, and the Wildwood Bike Path.
In Wildwood Crest from 6 a.m.–11 a.m., roads impacted will include Ocean Avenue to Fern Avenue and the Wildwood Crest Bike Path.
Spectators and residents are encouraged to come out and view this inspirational event and enjoy the free post-race concert on the beach.
