SEA ISLE CITY — After Hurricane Sandy damaged Sea Isle City’s Public Safety Building on JFK Boulevard and City Hall building on Landis Avenue in Oct. 2012, the City moved its Administrative Offices and Police Department into the former Sea Isle City Public School building at 4501 Park Road, which was not in use at the time because the municipality’s grammar school children had been re-located to the Ocean City School District the year before.
Once settled in the Park Road facility, the City soon began planning the construction of a new City Hall / Public Safety Complex on the site of the former Public Safety Building on JFK Boulevard. Following months of construction, the new municipal complex was recently completed.
The City will host a Ribbon-Cutting / Flag Raising Ceremony in front of the new City Hall / Public Safety Complex, located at 233 JFK Boulevard, at 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 21. The public is invited to attend the event, which will include a variety of dignitaries from Sea Isle City and Cape May County, as well as representatives from local civic organizations and others from the community.
Immediately following the Ribbon-Cutting and Flag-Raising Ceremony on Sept. 21, Sea Isle City’s new City Hall / Public Safety Complex will be open for business and fully operational. On that day, the building will become the new home of Sea Isle’s Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Fire Department, Municipal Court, City Council, Business Administrator, City Clerk, Finance Office, Tax Collector, Tax Assessor, Purchasing Department, Personnel Department, Construction Office, and Mayor’s Office.
While the City’s Administration and Police Department transition from the Park Road facility to the new City Hall / Public Safety Building on JFK Boulevard, City Hall’s email and phone service will be temporarily interrupted on Sept. 17 and 18. Also, Sea Isle City’s regularly scheduled Sept. 17 Municipal Court date has been cancelled. Court will resume on the third floor of the new facility at 233 JFK Boulevard on Sept. 24.
The City’s 9-1-1 emergency phone system will not be interrupted during the transition from Park Road to JFK Boulevard. Also, the Sea Isle City Police Department’s main phone number (609-263-4311) will be working throughout the move. Additionally, all City Hall offices will remain open in the Park Road facility on weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., through Sept. 18 (prior to the move to 233 JFK Boulevard).
For more information about the September 21 Ribbon-Cutting / Flag-Raising Ceremony, please phone Sea Isle City’s Public Relations Office at (609) 263-8687, ext. 103 or (609) 827-2994.
