Gov. Phil Murphy and Trenton Democrats are putting their far-left ideology ahead of our safety and it’s not only wrong, but it’s dangerous.
That’s why Republican State Senate Challenger Mike Testa, Jr. has strongly endorsed Cape May County Sheriff Bob Nolan’s willingness to confront the Murphy Administration, and continue the county’s cooperation agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the fight against illegal immigration.
“Gov. Murphy and the Democrat Party in Trenton have lost their collective minds,” stated Testa, Jr. who is running for Senate on a ticket with Lower Township Mayor Erik Simonsen and Ocean City Councilman Antwan McClellan, who are vying for the State Assembly.
“New Jersey has the highest taxes in America, an economy that is lagging behind the rest of the country, and the highest rate of residents leaving for other states, but instead of dealing with those issues, Trenton Democrats’ top priority is making New Jersey a so-called “sanctuary state” and trying to bully law enforcement professionals like Sheriff Nolan into not cooperating with ICE. Sheriff Nolan deserves our gratitude for having the courage to push back,” added Testa, Jr.
By way of background, Sheriff Robert Nolan signed an extension of the county’s inter-governmental service agreement with ICE earlier this year, which allows trained and certified Sheriff’s Office personnel to perform immigration enforcement functions, such as:
· Interrogating any person detained in the participating law enforcement agency’s detention center (in this case the Cape May County Correctional Facility) who the office believes to be an alien.
· The ability to identify and process for removal aliens in the jail who fall within ICE’s civil immigration enforcement priorities.
· The ability to serve arrest warrants for immigration violations, prepare charging documents, issue immigration detainers, and detain and transport arrested aliens to ICE-approved detention facilities, among other specific powers.
“Since Sheriff Nolan’s actions, the Murphy Administration and Trenton democrats have harassed and pressured him to back down, but courageously he hasn’t budged,” stated Testa, Jr. “If I am elected in November, Sheriff Nolan will have an ally in the State Senate who won’t be afraid to serve as a check and balance against one-party Democrat rule in Trenton that is ruining our state, eroding our freedoms, and making our communities less safe.”
Testa, Jr. said that with another anniversary of Sept. 11 upon us, we should remember the lessons that awful day taught us.
“Gov. Murphy and Trenton Democrats routinely forget to mention that the 287(g) program Sheriff Nolan is fighting to protect, was born from the tragedy of Sept. 11, and allowed state or local law enforcement entities to enter into a partnership with ICE, to perform immigration law enforcement functions within their jurisdictions,” stated Testa. Jr., also an attorney based in Vineland. “That Trenton Democrats are now taking official action to try and prohibit communication between federal and state law enforcement officials is outrageous.”
Testa, Jr. said this November is the time to send a message to Trenton and Murphy.
“If you are angry about the millions of dollars in funding that was cut from Cape May County school districts, by Murphy’s decision to strip $56 million in funds from the Wildwood Boardwalk repair project, and oppose putting the rights of illegal immigrants before American citizens, then make your voice heard loud and clear with a vote for Republicans up and down the ballot on Nov. 5,” concluded Testa. Jr.

Cape May County – I would probably be a lefty if they weren’t so bent on bankrupting us both financially and morally.
