OCEAN CITY – Tim Lucas, pastor of the experimental Liquid Church of Morristown returns this Sunday to Ocean City Tabernacle, Aug. 11, speaks at both the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship services. Morning music is by recording artist Allison Speer, who also presents a full concert Sunday evening at 7:00.
Lucas is lead pastor of Liquid Church, a ministry that began as a Sunday School class of 12 people in 1999. As one of New Jersey’s fastest growing churches, about 3,000 attend each Sunday at four locations and on line. Expect an unforgettable Biblical sermon in an unexpected context.
Allison Speer began her career with the Gaither Homecoming TV series and traveled with the Gaithers for several decades. She sings, tells down-home stories, and brings humor to a meaningful Christian message. Along with her CDs, she has created a line of jewelry and offers a school in Nashville for rising singing stars.
All Tabernacle services are inter-denominational. The 8:30 worship is traditional, beginning with a hymn-sing at 8:15 as the congregation arrives, led by Greg Field with organist Jeff Seals and pianist Carolyn Lothian. The 10:30 service is more upbeat and popular style with “praise & worship” music (sometimes called “contemporary”) led by the Cairn University OTW Band.
Child-care for ages 3 and younger is in the Noah’s Ark nursery both morning and evening and age-appropriate Sunday School is available for children during the morning services. The Tabernacle also offers Vacation Bible School for ages 4 through 6th grade, Aug. 13-15; 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Pre-register or register the day of VBS at 9:00 a.m. Children may attend as few as one session or all three days (select what fits the family’s schedule); every child receives a tee-shirt.
Everyone is welcome—come in vacation clothes. Sunday events at the Tabernacle are by contribution only; tickets not needed. Parking is free on the Tabernacle grounds for anyone attending worship or concerts.
