Street Rod Show at Ocean City Tabernacle

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – Rev. Raymond Rizzo, Chaplain to Sportbike Racing Association and NASCAR, makes a special visit to South Jersey this weekend—first at the Millville Motorsports Park and then at Ocean City Tabernacle to speak at both morning services, 8:30 & 10:30 a.m. His appearance coincides with the street rod show this weekend on the Tabernacle grounds. Parts of Asbury Ave. and Wesley Ave. will be closed off for the show and to provide the usual free parking for guests attending Tabernacle services and the show. Music is by the Girlchoir of the Commonwealth Youth Choirs, along with soprano Cynthia Rasmussen.
Rev. Rizzo is a motorcyclist, himself. He previously pastored a church in Plymouth, PA, and has been involved in various para-church ministries including a stint as Road Manager for gospel singer John Starnes. He has a double major in Bible and Pastoral Ministry, but his first love is racing.
The Pennsylvania Girl Choir is part of Commonwealth Youth Choirs. The 50 girls are holding a rehearsal retreat in the Tabernacle’s Kull Youth Center and will participate in both services.
Cynthia Rasmussen is a graduate of The School of Music and Performing Arts at Cairn University and has studied voice in Philadelphia and New York. She has sung with the Bel Canto Lyric Opera Company and is Principal Soprano Soloist with the Ambler Choral Society. Cynthia teaches pre-school music, teaches voice, and directs the children’s choir at Church of the Open Door in Ft. Washington, PA.
Both Sunday morning services are inter-denominational. The 8:30 service is traditional, beginning with a hymn-sing at 8:15 a.m. The 10:30 a.m. service is more upbeat and popular style featuring the Cairn University OTW Band. OTW also presents a free Praise evening, 8:00 p.m. Sept. 7, in Moorlyn Family Theatre, their final appearance of 2013. They were the main band for Unite throughout the summer.
Child-care for ages 3 and younger is in the Noah’s Ark nursery and age-appropriate Sunday School is offered for children during the Tabernacle’s morning services.
Everyone is welcome—come see the Street Rods and attend either service in vacation clothes.
