St. Peter’s by-the-Sea Re-opens with Special Dedication Service

By Press Release

CAPE MAY POINT – The doors of St. Peter’s by-the-Sea will re-open for the 2016 Summer Season May 29, 2016.
Our 137th season will open with a visit from Bishop William “Chip” Stokes, who will dedicate the Memorial Stained Glass Windows at a special service at 10:00 a.m. There will be only one service.
Sunday services will continue through September 25, 2016. Regular services times are 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
All are invited to attend this charming little Episcopal Church, situated in Cape May Point, where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Located on a triangular patch of land at Lincoln, Lake and Ocean Avenues, St. Peter’s by-the-Sea is an example of stick-style architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Join us and experience for yourself what makes St. Peter’s such a special place.
About the Memorial Stained Glass Window project: As a tribute to their mother, the Greer family brought the idea of a stained glass window project to the Trustees of St Peter’s. The new windows are symbols of the life in and around St. Peter’s.
Before the end of the 2014 season, the eight clerestory windows were prepared for the stained glass windows. Frames and the protective storm panels were installed by Camden Glass, shortly after St Peter’s season ended. Planning, design and creation happened with Willet Hauser during the spring and summer of 2015, followed by a one day installation in September 21, 2015.
The Stained Glass Windows were given in Loving Memory of Ida, Jean and the Bretherick Family; Arthur “Pete” and Alberta Craig; George F. and Virginia S. Greer; The Reverend M. Joan Jackson; The Lindsay Family; and John Mather, by their Families and Friends.
The committee who oversaw the Stained Glass Window project included Charlotte Greer Goldsmith, Kurt Brunner, Barbara Hall and Rhonda Jackson. Mike and Marty Torpey, Brian Noll and many others were instrumental in the success of the project.
