St. Mary’s Plans Memorial Walk For Centennial

By Press Release

STONE HARBOR — St. Mary’s Church will conduct a Memorial Walk as part of their centennial observance on May 23 at 10 a.m. The walk will begin with the church’s regular Sunday worship being held at the 101st Street Pavilion on the beach.
Parishioners and friends of St. Mary’s will then walk in memory of someone who was part of St. Mary’s Church community over its 100-year history. Or participants may also walk in memory of any loved one they choose.
Visor caps will be available that day and walkers may write the name of the person in whose memory they are walking on the brim of the visor. The walk will conclude at the Stone Harbor Garden Club’s Memorial Garden, just beyond 122nd Street where a service of remembrance will occur.
Offering is $10. Proceeds will support outreach efforts of St. Mary’s Church. This event is for young and old alike.
Fr. John Sosnowski, the rector, said, “This day is the Feast of Pentecost, the “birthday” of the church. We remember our ancestors in the faith who have provided this place for our worship and common life.”
Call the church office, 368-5922 to register for the walk.
