OCEAN CITY – Sept. 15, is the last worship service of summer 2013 and the last regular Sunday for Dr. Richard Stanislaw, President/CEO of Ocean City Tabernacle for the past eleven years. He retires in December—but only after the Messiah Sing-in (Dec. 7) and the Christmas Concert (Dec. 14). The Trustees will announce the 2014 President/CEO this Sunday.
Dr. Roger Petersen, Professor of Drama at Cairn University, is the morning speaker. The 35-voice Cairn University Chorale presents the music—and, for this final Sunday, both services are traditional style.
Petersen earned his doctorate at Drew, writing about the tales of Danish author Hans Christian Anderson. He uses those same story-telling techniques in his sermon presentations.
The Chorale spends the weekend rehearsing (and enjoying the beach) at the Kull Youth Center, and then shares their newly-learned music with the Ocean City congregation.
Informal singing, ranging from hymns to new praise and worship songs, precedes each of the services. Greg Field leads with Carolyn Lothian on the concert grand Steinway piano and Jeff Seals on the four-manual Allen organ.
Child-care for those under age 4 is in the Noah’s Ark nursery and age-appropriate Sunday School is offered for children.
Everyone is welcome—come in vacation clothes.
