Jewish American Heritage Month is an annual national month of recognition of the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to American culture. To celebrate, the Program Committee of Beth Judah Wildwood will host a “Wine and Cheese Lecture Series” on Sunday, May 1 at 4 p.m. in the Social Hall featuring Roy Steinberg, Producing Artistic Director of Cape May Stage. Mr. Steinberg will talk about the Jewish contributions to the American Theatre.
Roy Steinberg earned an MFA from Yale School of Drama and a BA Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University. As an actor, he has appeared on and off-Broadway, on television and in film as well as regional theatres like the Kennedy Center, Hartford Stage Company, Santa Fe Festival Theatre, New York Shakespeare Festival (Public Theatre) and Yale Rep. Mr. Steinberg has four Emmy nominations and he won the People’s Choice Award as the Producer of “Days of our Lives.” He has been a professor of Acting and Directing at Muhlenberg College and has taught at Lehman College of Performing Arts, Adelphi University, UCLA, NYU, School of Visual Arts, University of Rochester, IUP and the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Art where he is also on their Advisory Board. He has directed at the Colonial Theatre in Rhode Island, New Repertory in Massachusetts, Theatre By The Grove in Pennsylvania, and at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Wisconsin.
